Frequently asked questions

Suprashine pads clean and polish floors with water only, on the machine you already own. Below are the answers to the questions we hear most: which floors they suit, how to use them, when you see results, how long they last and how to order. All figures come from the manufacturer, Superabrasive.

About the pads

What are Suprashine diamond pads?

They are pads for floor machines made of a flexible material coated with a mix of high-quality resin and industrial diamonds. They clean and polish the floor at the same time with water only. They are made by Superabrasive, a diamond tool manufacturer with 35 years of experience and its own factory in Bulgaria. Just Grind d.o.o. distributes them in Slovenia and Croatia.

How are they different from standard pads?

Standard pads contain no diamonds. Suprashine pads carry a high concentration of industrial diamonds, so they polish the floor while they clean it. The manufacturer also states a longer lifespan thanks to the reinforced construction and high diamond density.

Which pad lines are there?

Four. Regular for daily maintenance and deep cleaning (grits 400, 800, 1800, 3500 and 8000). High Performance for high-traffic floors (800, 1800 and 3500), with a double layer of diamonds. Heavy Duty for chemical-free stripping and surface preparation (220 and 400). Hybrids, 5-inch discs for restoring concrete, terrazzo and natural stone (50 to 3000 and BUFF).

What do the pad colours mean?

The colour marks the grit, so the right pad is easy to pick. Lower grits clean deeper, higher grits give more gloss. Regular: 400 red, 800 white, 1800 yellow, 3500 green, 8000 silver. High Performance: 800 orange, 1800 blue, 3500 pink. Heavy Duty: 220 brown, 400 red.

Floors

Which floors are the pads for?

Almost every hard and resilient floor except carpet: concrete and polished concrete, terrazzo, marble, granite, epoxy, PVC, vinyl, linoleum, rubber, ceramic and porcelain tiles, wood and ESD floors, coated or uncoated. Check which pad suits your floor in the pad finder.

Pad finder
Can I use them on ESD floors?

Yes, the manufacturer lists ESD floors as suitable. In its electronics industry case, an ESD PVC floor was maintained with two pads instead of ESD-certified chemicals: Regular 800 for deep cleaning and Regular 3500 for daily care. For that case the manufacturer reports savings of up to 80 % of the annual daily cleaning costs.

Can I strip old finish or wax with them?

Yes, that is what the Heavy Duty line is for: stripping with water only, without chemical strippers. On linoleum and polymer-coated floors the manufacturer recommends HD 400 (red) or HD 220 (brown) for stripping. HD 220 is our first choice for heavy stripping of emulsions and coatings from PVC, linoleum, rubber and epoxy, and the best pad for preparing floors before renewal or permanent coatings.

How do I maintain linoleum and polymer-coated floors?

Daily with Regular 3500 (green), or Regular 8000 (silver) on very soft coatings, with water only. Every one to two months the manufacturer recommends a top scrub with Regular 800 (white): two passes remove the dirty top layer. According to the manufacturer, one scrubber-dryer pass lifts gloss by about 20 points. Burnish only once new coating layers have dried completely.

Can I restore scratched concrete, terrazzo or stone?

Yes, with Hybrids, which remove stains, scratches and orange peel. For deep scratches start at grit 50 or 100, for light scratches at 200 or 400, and polish smooth floors without shine with 800 and up. Hybrids are for concrete, terrazzo and natural stone, not for epoxy.

Machines and use

Do I need a new machine?

No. The pads work on most low-speed and high-speed machines: scrubber-dryers, single-disc machines and burnishers. For the best result, use them on a velcro pad holder.

Is water really enough?

Yes. The diamonds clean and polish the floor mechanically, so no detergent is needed. Unless it is an extreme case, the manufacturer recommends water only to grind, restore, strip, clean, upgrade or maintain all floors.

How do I use Hybrids?

Space the discs evenly on a standard pad, for example 5 pieces on a 20-inch pad. Use them on a low-speed machine, ideally a scrubber, with at least 40–45 kg of pressure and with water. Make 3–4 passes in alternating directions with a 1–2 inch (2.5–5 cm) overlap, and auto-scrub between each step.

How to use, step by step
What should I know about high-speed burnishers?

The manufacturer recommends slightly wet pads: this avoids dust, improves cleaning, extends pad life and gives a better gloss. On rubber and soft PVC rolls, burnish at no more than 1000 rpm.

Results and lifespan

When will I see results?

For High Performance pads the manufacturer states that results can be seen in as soon as 10 days of routine cleaning, and maximum gloss is usually reached after 30+ days. On coated floors one scrubber-dryer pass lifts gloss by about 20 points.

How long does a pad last?

It depends on the floor, traffic, machine and pressure. For High Performance pads the manufacturer states up to 645,000 sq ft, about 60,000 m².

How much can I save?

It depends on your floor and how you clean it today. The official distributor for Central and Eastern Europe states that cleaning with diamond pads can be up to 3.5 times cheaper. In the manufacturer’s case of a shopping mall with marble floors, yearly costs fell from EUR 9,640 to EUR 4,906, 49 % less, and the floor gained a high gloss. Run your own numbers in the savings calculator.

Will the floor look better with every clean?

As a rule, yes. Suprashine pads do not only clean, they also gently improve the condition of the floor, because every pass with diamonds polishes the surface as well. The High Performance line is made to upgrade the gloss during daily cleaning, whatever the weather and traffic.

How are the pads packed?

Regular, High Performance and Heavy Duty pads come in packs of two (2-pack). How many packs you need depends on the area and the number of pads on your machine; we take that into account in the offer.

Which sizes are available?

Round pads come in all popular sizes from 5 to 28 inches in diameter, and as rectangular and utility pads too. High Performance and Heavy Duty are also available at 36 and 48 inches. Every size has an item number and a price. Hybrids are 5" (127 mm).

Pad sizes
Do you have rectangular and utility pads?

Yes. Regular, High Performance and Heavy Duty come in 9 rectangular sizes from 9 × 12" to 14 × 32" for machines with a rectangular plate, and as a 5.25 × 10.5" (133 × 266 mm) utility pad for hand work on edges, in corners and on stairs. The grits are the same as for round pads. Rectangular pads cost from 22.22 € and the utility pad from 15.31 €, excl. VAT.

Which size does my machine need?

The pad size matches the diameter of the pad holder on your machine. Measure it, or tell us the make and model of your machine in your inquiry and we will check the size for you.

What do the pads cost and when will I get them?

The price is per piece and the same for every grit of a line. Regular and Heavy Duty pads cost from 11.11 €, High Performance from 15.58 € and Hybrids discs 27.78 €, all excl. VAT. A common 20" pad costs 38.69 € (Regular, Heavy Duty) or 54.19 € (High Performance). Every size is in the price list; we give the delivery time in the offer.

Environment and safety

Is cleaning without chemicals safer?

The manufacturer states that cleaning with water only is safer for users, floors and the environment. There are no detergents to buy, dose and store, and the manufacturer lists minimum environmental impact among the advantages.

Are they suitable for the food industry?

The manufacturer describes a food industry case where an old epoxy floor was maintained without chemicals to prevent contamination: restoration with Regular 400 or HD 400 first, then deep cleaning with HP 800, and an optional gloss upgrade with HP 1800.

Does clean water affect the machine?

According to the official distributor, using clean water does not adversely affect the technical condition of the machine.
