How diamonds make a floor shine

Every Suprashine pad carries industrial diamonds in a bond. Coarse diamonds grind, medium ones hone, fine ones polish, and microdiamonds keep the shine every day. Here is what happens to the floor surface, magnified.

  1. 01

    Grinding

Hybrids have a true resin-metal hybrid bond with coarse diamonds. On concrete, terrazzo and stone they grind out deep scratches, stains and orange peel. Heavy Duty 220 strips emulsions and coatings with water and preps the floor for a new coating.

  2. 02

    Honing

Medium grits erase the marks of coarse grinding until only fine scratches remain. The surface is flat and smooth, but still matt. At this stage Heavy Duty 400 and Regular 400 also deep clean and restore epoxy, vinyl and PVC.

  3. 03

    Polishing

Fine grits level even the micro-scratches. The surface starts to reflect light evenly and the gloss rises. HP 800 and HP 1800 lift the floor to a higher gloss step by step during routine cleaning.

    Daily gloss

Microdiamonds lift traffic dirt during daily cleaning with water only and keep the surface smooth. The reflection stays crisp and the gloss doesn’t fade. Regular 8000 is for maximum gloss and delicate surfaces.

Gloss that doesn’t fade after three weeks

With traditional floor care the floor shines after each burnish or new coat, then traffic and chemicals wear the gloss down again. Then comes stripping, a new coat and a new bill. Diamond pads polish the floor mechanically during routine cleaning, so the gloss stays, or keeps rising.

The colour tells you what the pad does

A lower number cleans deeper, a higher one polishes to a higher gloss. Pick one pad for daily work, or run them in sequence to restore a floor.

Water instead of chemicals

The diamonds do the work mechanically, so no detergent is needed. Unless it is an extreme case, the manufacturer recommends water only, on every floor.

Frequently asked questions

Do I really need no chemicals at all?

Yes. The diamonds in the pad clean and polish the floor mechanically, so water is enough. The manufacturer recommends detergents only in extreme cases.

Do I need a new machine?

No. The pads fit most low-speed and high-speed machines: scrubber-dryers, single-disc machines and burnishers. Use them on a standard velcro pad holder.

Which floors are the pads for?

Almost every floor except carpet: concrete and polished concrete, terrazzo, marble, granite, epoxy, PVC, vinyl, linoleum, rubber, ceramic tiles, wood and ESD floors.

When will I see results?

With High Performance pads the manufacturer states that results can be seen in as soon as 10 days of routine cleaning, with maximum gloss usually reached after 30+ days. On coated floors one scrubber-dryer pass lifts gloss by about 20 points.

How long does a pad last?

It depends on the floor, traffic, machine and pressure. For High Performance pads the manufacturer states up to 645,000 sq ft, about 60,000 m².
